A new study lends hope to Fibromyalgia patients. In the study, the researchers found that at least part of the #fibromyalgia pain may actually be due to an underlying, and more importantly treatable, condition called small-fiber polyneuropathy (SFPN.)
Almost half of the fibromyalgia patients in the study displayed significantly reduced nerve fiber density, abnormalities on autonomic functions tests, or both, suggesting they had SFPN. While none of the patients in the study had diabetes which is a common cause of SFPN, more than half the patients had dysfunctional immune systems.
