A study presented at the RSNA 2010 Annual meeting found that in individuals at risk for developing osteoarthritis, (degenerative arthritis or “wear and tear “) light exercise led to less cartilage destruction as measured by MRI findings. So- for the vast majority of us- this should become an important part of our regular overall health program. Why? This type of arthritis is not a disease- it is something that most patients get at least somewhere in their body, and it can become quite incapacitating. It is one of the top diagnosis I make in the spine! So get out there, and do a bit of exercise regularly!
